Day Hike to Donard...The Mount Argus Scouts kicked off their programme this weekend with a day hike in the Wicklow mountains. The event was well attended by all three patrols and provided a great opportunity for the patrol leaders to introduce some of the newer members to the skills involved in hiking and navigation...MORE  
Ulster MPC 05...The final Mountain Pursuit Challenge (M.P.C.) of the year took place last weekend in the Mournes and turned out to be a hugely sucessful event attended by over eighty Scouts and nearly forty Scouters from all over Ireland. Dublinia Scout county was well represented...MORE  
Like Jaws Without The SharkIn October 2005 the Mount Argus Phoenix Challenge Team (All hail) went on a fishing weekend to the National Water activity centre in Killaloe, county Clare. I suppose I’d better get the bad news out of the way first: twelve people attended but only three fish were caught. This is a pretty dismal achievement. Djouce Hike...For our second hike of the year we decided to tackle the familiar Djouce Mountain route with an extension to the summit of White Hill.Meeting at the scout hall at 10:00 we set of by car to a small carpark just outside the town of Enniskerry in the foothills of the Wicklow mountains. From here we followed trails through low-lying forestry before emerging onto the Wiclow way which led us to within just over 100m of the summit of Djouce Mountain (725m)....MORE  
Two Scouts achieve top award…On Sunday 13th November, two Scouts from the Mount Argus Scout Group received their Chief Scouts Award. Achille Martone and Ciaran Price are the latest of a line of top quality Scouts that have embraced the challenges of the Scout programme to achieve this award......MORE  
Group Trainers Recieves Award...Alan Monaghan the Mount Argus Group Trainer and Assistant Scout Leader received a Youth Development Award from the City of Dublin Youth Service Board, (CDYSB), for his contribution to youth member training a development. Alan was amongst twenty other recipients to receive the Youth Development Award, the awards were presented by the Ombudsman for Children, Emily Logan, at the awards dinner which took place on the 18th November 2005 in the Garda Club, Dublin.....MORE  
The Wild Visit the Wild ...On a crisp bright October Saturday a group of 12 cubs set out on a daytrip to try get a view of nature The two leaders and parent convoy struggled across the city and by the time the cars were approaching Ashbourne, Co. Meath the chorus of “are we nearly there?” was enough to try the patience of Job......MORE  
Dublinia County Challenge Day...Last weekend saw the first annual Dublinia Scout County Challenge and it proved to be another great event. Over sixty Scouts from seven Groups in the County took part in the event which challenged not only their general knowledge but also their practical problem solving skills and their ability to work together as a team....MORE  
Scout Christmas Hostel...Knockree Youth Hostel in the foothills of the Wicklow mountains was the venue for this years Christmas Hostel. The weekend was well attended with the fourteen Scouts and six leaders taking part in an event which proved to be both fun and challenging in equal measure....MORE  
Dublinia County Orienteering Competition...Hot on the heels of the County Challenge day and the Knockree Christmas hostel trip Mount Argus fielded sixteen Scouts in the Dublinia County Orienteering competition.....MORE  
New Year Hike...With the new year coming in a few Scouters and Venturers decided that it was time to start working of all the turkey and chocolates with an ascent of Lugnaqullia, the tallest mountain in Leinster......MORE
